Quantum Computing: The Upcoming Superfast Technology

Quantum Computing: The Upcoming Superfast Technology

Think of a computer which can solve the problems in seconds that would take todays superfast computers a millions of years. That’s quantum computing, a latest technology that will bring a change in the world.

Basic understanding about Quantum Computing

Normal computers use bits, which was functioning like a switch it can either be 0 or 1. Every function of the computer is based on this. Quantum computers use qubits which can exist in multiple states (0 or 1 or both) at a time. It allows computer to work smoothly and faster. It is based on the principles of quantum mechanics.

Why Quantum Computing?

It could solve problems which are impossible for today’s computers, such as:

 • Security: makes online security stronger

• Improved Artificial Intelligence

• Discovering new medicines by simulation of molecules with more accuracy

• Optimizing logistics for airlines and delivery services industries

Recent updates in Quantum Computing

Tech companies like Google, IBM and Microsoft are working hard to make this reality.

• In 2019, Google introduced a quantum chip named Sycamore that solved problem in 200 seconds, which fastest computers would take 10,000 years.

• Google unveiled Willow, a quantum chip in 2024 December with 105 qubits.

                                                           Google introducing Willow

Major challenges

• Qubits are weak and can be easily disturbed with the small environmental changes.

• Quantum computers need to be kept at a temperature close to -273 degree Celsius (Absolute zero)

The Future

Quantum computers now is in the path of development but they are developing quickly. In the next few years the are going to bring a large change in sectors like Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, and healthcare.
