IP Ratings in smartphones
A BASIC KNOWLEDGE ABOUT IP RATING IN SMARTPHONES
When we buy a new smartphone you might have seen the IP rating in it.
Let's know about IP rating simply in this blog.
What IP rating is?
The Ingress Protection (IP) rating tells about how well a device can resist against dust and water. It consists of two numbers:
- First digit (0-6): It tells about dust protection.
- Second digit(0-9K): It tells about water protection.
Common IP ratings seen in phones:
- IP67 - Fully dustproof and can survive in 1m of water for 30 minutes.
- IP68 - Fully dustproof and can survive in deep water (1.5m for 30 minutes).
- IP69K - High-pressure water resistance (rare in smartphones).
Keep these in mind...
- Water resistance will fade as time pass due to wear and damage.
- No phone is truly waterproof.
- Avoid the maximum limit of waterproof.
